Armor of God | 7-Day Devotional

Note from Savanah, the Founder of Faith Label

This 7-day Armor of God devotional was written in the midst of my deepest grief. I had just decided to start Faith Label and the Lord placed a deep desire to start by designing charms inspired by the Armor of God. Shortly after making this decision my life seemingly unraveled.

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and shortly after, the man I had dated for 8.5 years unexpectedly passed away at 27 years old. His passing occurred a little over a month after the Lord led me to part ways with him. "Get out of my way"... those were the words I audibly heard from the Lord.
Every day, I meditated on the Armor of God as I designed each of them for Faith Label. I had to wake up daily and choose to put the Armor of God on and to lean on His truth, His righteousness, His peace, His faithfulness, His salvation, and His Word just to get through to the next day. The enemy schemed against me in my grief, but the Word of God protected me and gave me hope. Put on the full Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–18), so that you too can experience His unfailing grace and His mighty protection, even when the battle rages.

Day 1

Ephesians 6:10-13

10
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

When it comes to spiritual warfare, It’s important to understand that the mind is the primary battlefield, lies will try to distort truth and fear will try to override faith.

We see many people experiencing spiritual warfare throughout the Bible. In Psalm 13 we see David wrestling with despair and feeling alone. He says, “How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?”

Haven’t we all been there- in troubling seasons of life.

This is why the Lord instructs us to arrest and evaluate thoughts that do not align with God’s truth. Our thoughts shape who we are and we need to be fully dressed in God’s armor.

2 Corinthians 10:5 — “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

In Christ, we have the authority to renew our minds, stand firm, and walk in victory.

When it comes down to it, your inheritance as a child of God is so rich, so powerful, so filled with purpose that the enemy is desperate to keep you from ever walking in it. He

can’t take away your salvation, so instead, he tries to distract you from your identity. He throws lies at your mind, confusion at your heart, and fear at your future. Because if he can keep you bound in your thoughts, he can keep you from rising in your calling. But here’s the truth: the inheritance you’ve received through Christ is already yours. Peace, authority, purpose, spiritual gifts, wisdom, joy and eternal life. Don’t let the enemy trick you into settling for spiritual poverty when God has declared you royalty. Let us put on the full Armor of God.

Over the next six days we’ll be going through each piece of armor in detail so that we can walk confidently in our God given purpose, fully prepared to withstand anything that forms against you.
